New E-ASR Software Released

November 2022: GAEA is proud to announce the release of our E-ASR (Environmental Automated Standardized Reporting) software. This software has been more than 3 years in development and is a significant upgrade for our Pocket ESA software.

E-ASR has been designed to minimize the amount of time required to generate standard Environmental Site Assessment reports and to maximize the flexibility of the final report. The program is used to collect answers to pre-designed questions. The data can be collected on a Tablet, Laptop, or Desktop. These answers are then merged with a report template and a standard report is generated. The merging process allows the user to insert different responses and paragraphs into the report depending upon how a question is answered.

A wide variety of reports can be created; including Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, Environmental Compliance, and Transaction Screening. The reports can be tailored to any standard such as CSA and ASTM.

The program comes with several questionnaires and report templates (click on the links below to see example reports generated by E-ASR):

E-ASR is currently being offered at an introductory sale price of 50% off. See below for more information and sale prices.

buildings and structures

Buildings and Structures Module Now Free

February 2017: In version 3.13 we have made the Buildings and Structures module free. You will no longer need a license to use this module.

This module of StrataExplorer is used to create simplified buildings, structures, and excavations for display in 3D. After they have been created these buildings and excavations can be used to show the positions of these structures in 3D relative to samples, borings, wells, cross-sections, contour maps, and solids.

The following buildings, structures, and excavations can be created and displayed:

  • rectangular shaped buildings
  • irregular shaped buildings
  • storage tanks
  • silos
  • storage piles
  • underground shafts
  • excavations

Buildings and excavations can be selected and scaled or rotated. Multiple buildings and excavations can also be selected and aligned. Once the position and size of the building or excavation is correct, the size and position can be locked on to the project map.

Some of the features of the module are:

  • Multiple buildings, structures, and excavations can be added to a project.
  • Base elevation, height, slope, tilt angle, tilt direction, position, boundary points, labels, and colors can be entered.

EDMS field

Get a Free copy of EDMS Field

October 2016: Until the end of this year we are offering a free license of EDMS Field with every license of EDMS that you purchase. That is a savings of $695 US.

The EDMS Field application is a separate program that can be run on tablets and laptops to collect environmental data and then send this data remotely to the EDMS application. The field data consists of sample and station information and is transmitted as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) files to EDMS.

EDMS Field is used in conjunction with EDMS to improve and standardize environmental data collection, management, and reporting in an efficient and cost-effective manner. This is accomplished by implementing a documented, auditable process for the collection, storage, and reporting of environmental field data. Throughout this process all stages of the sampling and analysis are tracked and notifications can be sent via email or SMS (text message). Notifications for non-compliance events

WinLoG RT Released

August 2016: WinLoG RT can create boring and well logs and manage boring and well data. The program can be used on tablets, laptops and desktops that have the Windows operating system. The user interface has been specifically designed to make data collection easier on tablets and laptops. WinLoG RT can be used separately or as a field extension of the WinLoG/StrataExplorer application.

When used separately it operates very similar to WinLoG version 4. All of the data is stored on the local device and the logs can be printed directly from the local device. WinLoG RT can be used completely independently of WinLoG and does not require any other software.

When used in conjunction with the network version of WinLoG/StrataExplorer, WinLoG RT can act as a remote data collection device for boring and well data. The data collected in the field can be sent to the network as an Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) file. In addition, boring and well creation tasks can be automatically sent to personnel using WinLoG RT.

Environmental Data Management System Released

June 2016: The Environmental Data Management System (EDMS) is used to improve and standardize environmental data collection, management, and reporting in an efficient and cost-effective manner. This is accomplished by implementing a documented, auditable process for the collection, storage, and reporting of environmental field data. Throughout this process all stages of the sampling and analysis are tracked and notifications can be sent via email or SMS (text message). Notifications for non-compliance events and sample exceedences can be automatically sent by the system.

This process can be divided into four stages:

  1. Scheduling and Sample Planning: The first stage in any environmental field program is the scheduling and planning of sampling events. EDMS allows project managers to design, delegate, and monitor sampling events. Sampling events can be either singular or re-occurring. Prior to data collection, sampling stations can be specified. These sample stations include information on station location and construction, sampling defaults and methodology, lab analyses required, required equipment and personnel. Sample labels with bar codes and a Chain of Custody (COC) can be printed from the stations to be used in data collection and lab submittal.
  2. Data Collection: When a sampling event occurs all of the station information is inherited by the sample including sampling defaults, required lab analyses, and personnel. Detailed sample information can be recorded for each environmental media on a Windows laptop or tablet using EDMS Field or a field notebook (for later data entry). Sample photographs can also be included with the sample data. Sample data collected using EDMS Field can be uploaded to the main database remotely as an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) file. The remote uploading of data using an EDI file provides for faster more comprehensive data reporting and reduces the possibility of transcription errors.
  3. Lab Analysis: Samples submitted for lab analysis are tracked during shipping, receiving, lab analysis, and reporting process. This tracking is reported on by EDMS and EDMS Lab (free lab reporting software provided by GAEA). Analytical labs using EDMS Lab can upload analysis results to the main database automatically as an EDI file. The electronic reporting of lab data reduces the effort and possibly of errors of manual data entry. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) can be included in the EDI file and a copy stored in the main database.
  4. Reporting: Sample and lab analysis results can be collated and reported on in a variety of tables and graphs. These tables and graphs can be easily customized to meet internal and external needs. In addition, EDMS data is fully integrated and available for use by other modules within StrataExplorer. Sample and lab analysis data can be viewed and used in the WinLoG, WinFence, SE-GIS, and SE-Map modules.

Some of the many benefits provided by EDMS are:

  • Scheduling and planning of sampling tasks or a singular or reoccurring basis.
  • Provide notifications of sample and analyses events to internal, client, and lab personnel by email or SMS.
  • Capture or import, verify, and report on environmental and lab data.
  • Standardize the procedures for collection and reporting of environmental data within and across projects.
  • Improve communication and data exchange with analytical labs.
  • Reduce the time and effort required for data handling and reporting.
  • Improve the efficiency of reporting to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Provide a secure database system for the storage, retrieval, and backup of all project environmental data.
  • Fully integrated with other modules within StrataExplorer for visualization of samples and analyses.
  • Can assist you with the Compliance and Operations stage for ISO 14001.
  • Provides functionality for the monitoring and measurement of environmental objectives, as well as communications management and operational control.

The main features of the EDMS can be divided into several categories.
