ESDAT Online System Overview
ESDAT is able to operate
on databases accessible over the internet, and if maps
are included, provide an online GIS. The ESDAT online
system operates as follows:
1. Access to the data is
through ESDAT, which is installed on personal computers
requiring access to the data. Users can use unlicensed
versions of ESDAT to access the database.
2. Limited users have
permission to import data to, or edit data in, the
database. Other users have read-only access.
3. All personnel involved
in the project can use full ESDAT functionality for
analyzing and reporting data stored in this database.
4. Access is controlled
through the distribution of a database connection file,
and validated by allocation of user names and passwords.
5. The data for the
project is stored in a SQL Server database hosted on a
web enabled server.
6. The database can
include maps, and other files which support the data.

Examples:
Examples of ESDAT running
over the internet are provided with the ESDAT
installation. In the startup screen change the dropdown
which reads “Access Databases” to one of the web demos
(Contam Site, or Enviro and NRM). If you have trouble
connecting it is likely that your organization’s
firewall is preventing access. Request your IT staff to
enable ESDAT access to apollo.bluefishhosting.com.au.
